We Are Here To Support Each Other

A Responsive Reading I wrote for an Interfaith Vigil marking 100 days (and used in Service today)

Leader: When Immigrants both documented and undocumented are fearful of being abducted without due process. 
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When healthcare protections are threatened, 
and millions fear losing access to doctors and medicine
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When protections for the environment are rolled back, and we disregard our call to care for our common planet
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When acts of hate rose across the country, 
and racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia 
grow louder, 
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When LGBTQ+ rights are ignored 
and health care is denied to many beloveds in our communities, 
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When education on African American and LGBTQIA history and current lived experiences are denied
ALL:	We are here to support each other.

Leader: When freedom of the press is attacked, and truth is undermined, 
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When economic policies favor the wealthy 
and deepen the suffering of the poor, 
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When women's rights to control their own bodies 
and futures are under siege,
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When science is silenced, and facts are pushed aside for political gain, 
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: When the spirit of compassion, justice, and democracy itself is placed in jeopardy, 
All: We are here to support each other.

Leader: Wherever we may be on the journey in this life
All:	We are here to support each other.
